Privacy Policy

The short version

Your closet, your photos of yourself and your measurements live on your phone, not on our servers. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Scarlet is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it.

What we collect and why

Account: your email address and, if you give it, your first name. Our secure sign-in service stores these so you can log in, along with simple usage counters (for example, how many try-ons you have used this month) so we can enforce plan limits.
Your closet: photos of your clothes, their tags, your saved looks and your wear history are stored only on your device.
Photos of you: the try-on photos you add are stored only on your device, behind Face ID, fingerprint or face unlock, or your passcode.
Your measurements and style: height, weight, body shape and style preferences are optional and stored only on your device.
Your feedback: when you tell Scarlet whether a look, a try-on or a plan was right, your answer is stored on your device so the stylist can learn your taste. Your answer, the reasons you pick and anything you write there are also sent to us, tied to your random account id, so a person can read what went wrong and fix it. Please do not write personal details there.
Location: if you allow it, we use your approximate location once per session to show the weather. Rounded coordinates are sent to a weather service; the name of your city is kept on your device.
Purchases: subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google and by our subscription service, which tells us whether your subscription is active. We never see your payment details.
Support chat: if you use the chat on our support web page, what you type there — and your name and email if you give them — is handled by our customer-support service so we can answer you. Please do not send photos of yourself there.
Usage and diagnostics: we record which features are used (for example "a scan finished with 4 pieces"), crash reports and, for some sessions, a recording of the screens you moved through with every photo and every text field blacked out on your phone before it is sent, through analytics and diagnostics services, tied to a random account id. These never include your photos, your name, your email, your measurements or anything you typed.

When your photos leave your phone

Only when you ask Scarlet to do something that needs AI. Scanning a piece sends that photo; a try-on sends the one photo of you that you choose plus the garment photos, with your height, weight and shape if you provided them; a closet makeover sends your closet photos and a numeric summary of your wardrobe, and a picture of a step sends those closet photos again with the plan’s text; the AI stylist sends a list of your clothes as text, never photos. Requests also carry what you have told Scarlet about earlier results — your likes, dislikes and any words you added — so the next result suits you better.
These requests pass through our server to third-party AI services that work for us, only to produce your result, and only after you have given permission in the app. Our server does not store the photos or the results. Those services may keep request data for a limited time to prevent abuse, and their terms with us do not allow them to use it to train their models.

Your choices

Every onboarding question is optional. You can turn off location in Settings and Scarlet will dress you for the season instead.
You can delete any photo at any time. "Delete my account" in the You tab permanently deletes your account and everything Scarlet stored on your phone. Cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play settings.
The services named above are companies that process data only on our instructions; we do not sell or rent your data to anyone. Ask us and we will tell you which companies they are.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data. Contact us and we will help.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
